This handcrafted Jianshui clay teapot (Style 2) is a refined hexagon-shaped piece made from premium red clay, showcasing the depth and difficulty of traditional Jianshui craftsmanship. The teapot features a fully hand-pinched body with six defined facets and a matching hexagonal lid—each edge shaped by hand rather than molded.

One side of the teapot is decorated with a butterfly and floral motif, symbolizing vitality and harmony, while the opposite side features carved Chinese calligraphy. Both designs are created using the traditional yin-carving and yang-filling technique, where engraved lines are filled with contrasting clay to achieve clear detail and lasting visual depth.

Due to the complexity of its form and decoration, this hexagon teapot has a low firing success rate. Even experienced artisans can only complete a very limited number each year, making every finished piece especially valuable. Each teapot is unique, reflecting subtle variations that are a hallmark of true handmade pottery.
