This handcrafted Jianshui clay teapot (Style 1) is a rare six-sided (hexagon) red clay teapot, meticulously formed entirely by hand. From the hexagonal lid to the six precisely defined ridges along the body, every structural element is shaped through skilled hand-pinch techniques rather than molds—making each piece exceptionally difficult to produce.

One side of the teapot features an elegant butterfly and floral motif, symbolizing vitality and harmony, while the opposite side is engraved with traditional Chinese calligraphy. Both designs are executed using the classic yin-carved and yang-filled inlay technique, where engraved lines are filled with contrasting clay to create depth, clarity, and lasting visual contrast.

Due to the complexity of its geometry and carving, this hexagon teapot has a very high failure rate during firing. Even for experienced master artisans, only a few successful pieces can be completed in an entire year. This makes each finished teapot not only a functional tea vessel, but also a collectible work of pottery art.

With an approximate capacity of 190ml, the teapot is well suited for gongfu tea brewing, offering controlled pouring, stable heat retention, and excellent flavor clarity. The unglazed red Jianshui pottery develops a richer patina over time, rewarding regular use.
